Portrait Studies, Spring 2024

The Portrait Studies, Spring 2024 series represents a collection of portrait studies created during my portraiture class at Dominican University. Using mediums such as charcoal, graphite, and colored pencils, I explored the intricate details of male and female faces. This series focused on deep observation and a comprehensive understanding of facial anatomy, allowing me to refine my ability to capture emotion, structure, and individuality in every piece. Each drawing served as a study in technique and an opportunity to develop a deeper appreciation for the subtle characteristics that make each face unique.

Through this series, I honed my skills in shading, proportion, and expression, working to bring a sense of life and realism to each portrait. The process emphasized the importance of close observation and the relationship between technical precision and creative interpretation. This class not only challenged me to grow as an artist but also inspired me to continue studying the art of portraiture. I am grateful to Dominican University for providing such a supportive environment to pursue my passion for drawing and for encouraging my exploration of human expression through art.
